Correction.........DVD Copy Xpress

The Xpress version will shrink the DVD to fit on a regular old DVD-r then burn it for you. VERY good quality. Very hassle free.

You can also forego this option and download the free DVD Shrink off the net. It basically does the same thing but is more fussy. You can use it in tandem with Nero.

One thing you must also remember when burning DVD-r's...............try to leave as much of the DVD extras, audio, subtitles OUT of the burning. ALLLL this extra space will go to improve the movie quality which is compressed anyways. For example: I backed-up LOD: Two Towers. No extras. Just the movie. Even though the 3 hour movie was large, DVDCopy Xpress made an excellent copy b/c I forewent the interesting but usless "Making Of" extras.

Remember,
Less compression = better movie quality.

so, is DVDShrink the best "compressing/transcoding" program or is it InstantCopy? (speed isn't a concern. neither are the extras)

Truthfully, you won't be able to tell the difference. There are fans on all camps, but to be fair, there really isn't.

HOWEVER...........you WILL be able to tell the difference if you ADD extras, etc to the DVD burn. You will see more pixelation.

is there a page or thread that puts the latest DVD programs side by side to compare? i've been using DVDXCopy to split DVDs to two discs, but i think i'd rather spend the money on 4X DVD-R's and put the movie on 1 disc.
