How do I burn copyrighted DVDs?

I bought "friends" dvds seasons 1-5 DVDs and I wanna make backup copies so I don't actually have to use the original DVDs to watch them.
However, I can't seem to burn the DVDs since they are copyrighted.
I'm new with DVDs burning so I have no clue what to do. I've heard of DVD decrypter but to my knowledge if you use this program, you can only copy the DVD as VCD or DIVX.
By the way, I am using hp200i and I use the hp record now program that came with the burner. Should I buy another program?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!!!

Thanks for the links guys, it looks like the websites have lots of readings.
I think I'll read them tomorrow when I'm fresh.
Anybody with more suggestions? Or ways that you guys burn your dvd.
It also seems that burning onto one dvd is a problem. Any of you guys have this problem and forced into burning onto 2 DVDs?

Thanks again guys!!!

I don't know what DVD class is used on Friends, but if you're forced to burn onto 2 DVDs, then it's likely a dual layer or double sided, which should be obvious.

For software, I'd recommend DVD Decrypter which strips at most copyrighted dvds onto your drive and from there it's a matter of putting them back on using another program, which at this point I'm unable to help as I'm still waiting to get my DVD burner this Christmas; all the while I have about 20GB of data sitting on my harddrive 😀

Finding Nemo alone is 16GB worth since I ripped both WS and FS.

I use DVDDecrypter to rip the DVD, then Clone-DVD to write the contents 🙂

Going to take a look at DVDShrink too 😉

DVD Shrink & Nero is my two step back-up solution machintos, I hope this helps 🙂

DVDxCopy is FAST ...simply press a button

DVDshrink allows you to shrink, or remove different parts of the dvd as well.

I use both depending on the DVD I am copying.
