how do i boot off the cd?

using a dell 366mhz laptop and just formatted the hard disk, i dont have a floppy boot disk but i have the windows XP cd, how do i get into the bios? F1 doesnt seem to work, or DEL...the DELL logo startup screen seems to come on too quickly!

do i just need to make a floppy boot disk or is there a way to boot off CDROM?

try F2 during when the Dell logo appears. If it's not that, then i dunno. also try pressing esc to see if the logo goes away

The BIOS is where you would set the boot order. I don't remember how to use the DELL BIOS but it shouldn't be terrible to figure out.
