I recently purchased an Asus ac68u, a 180$ expensive router and want to get something useful out of it. I have Brainslayer installed and want to know how do I block ads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Services -> Adblocking -. Privoxy enable

Transparent tries to catch all local hosts, can possible cause problems (never did for me)

or

Set proxy server on local host and point to router ip:8118 for only specific hosts

I didn't expect a response so soon. Thanks! I'll try it when I get home late today.

lol, the settings that Tuspac gave me didn't work so I googled for some instructions and it seemed too long to mess with in the afternoon.

I enabled Privoxy and it didn't seem to block any ads. Next I turned on transparent and it gave me another option to add an IP I believe. I didn't know what to use. I just left it disabled. Lastly, I didn't know how or where the option is for proxy server to change the IP to 8118. The option was N/A under adblocking tab.

Okay, just by turning it on I believe some ads are blocked. I think it's just webpage ads but youtube and other video ads are not blocked.

Privoxy as a part of dd-wrt is never going to block ads like Adblock Plus, however there are some guys over on the dd-wrt forum that are creating a fork to use Adblock Plus.

Not for the novice.

Privoxy with transaparent mode enabled will try to catch ads without individual hosts being configured to use the 8118 proxy.

A proxy in windows can be setup here

or in firefox

An ad blocked by privoxy may have a placeholder like this.

Are you trying to block ads that play before a youtube video?

I don't think that is possible with privoxy. If adblock plus can block those ads you may want to investigate the fork being discussed on dd-wrt forums.

A little old of a topic, sorry for the necro bump - but have there been any updates as far as a good way to block 99% of ads (Adblock / uBlock equivalent) via DD-WRT?

I'm having a new router come in and want to configure it as best as possible.
