How do i benchmark my comp using Quake 3?

Is there a command line that I put in console or a software to run through a demo and see the frame rates?

The easiest way, IMHO, is to keep a fresh install of Q3 (no patches), and in the console (~), type :

/timedemo 1
/demo DEMONAMEHERE <--- i forgot the demo name, it might be something like demo1 or something.

Alternatively, you can just go to the demos folder, and pick whichever demo you want.
