How do I backup Outlook files?

I have Outlook setup the way I like it, but need to reformat my computer.

In the past, I tried backing it up based on what guides said online, and always had some issue or the other.

Is there just a simple directory I can back up now and copy back over it after formatting and installing it that has all the settings, contacts, etc.?

As far as I know, just search your HD for *.pst and copy all of those. I really think it's that simple.

Unless you've changed the location, the default is:

C:\Documents and Settings\user_id\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You'll probably find an outlook.pst and archive.pst.

Also backup the profiles from the registry: http://pixma.ulmb.com/?p=233

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures

These two need to be backed up as well.
