How do i backup my messages from outlook express? (got it, read inside for solution)

decided to format after so long and lousy ATT BI stores messages on computer insead on their e-mail server or something like hotmail. If i do back it up is it possible to put it back in the inbox for viewing from outlook express?
 
You can either export them or forward them to another email account. i just forward them to my freemail accounts, ones that I needed to keep that is
 
This can be a huge pain in the arse... when I try it normally I get an error saying it couldn't initialize MAPI, whatever that means. I have found a longer, more drawn out way, but I bet someone can help you out with an easier method.

Even easier. Go to Folder Options, and enable "view hidden files" or however it's phrased. Then go to your search tool, and search for

.dbx

files. Those files should correspond to the folders in your OE mailbox, however you have it setup. Back those up, and then you can replace them later or on another computer as necessary. 😉
