i figured i could probably download "most" files through ftp but the mysql databases perplex me. how do i back these up?

there are user forums and the movabletype database are all in mysql databses

just in case my server ever decides to crash or something and lose all my stuff, id rather have it backed up. anyone know how to do this?

thanks!

Where are you hosted? If you have PHPMyAdmin installed on your server, you can log-in and export your database.

Hmmm..... I've always loved PHPMyAdmin because I sux0r @ teh mysql queries.

Anyways, just log-in, click on your database from the menu on the left. My phpmyadmin has an export tab, but I remember the version I used in my last host had all of the options, including export, listed on the same page.

im a relative newbie at mysql and using movabletype/gallery is my first experience with using phpadmin. thanks a lot! 🙂

Did you manage to find it? The control panel for your website MIGHT also have an option to export databases.
