How do i make win2k turn off my computer automatically when i start->shutdown. for some reason it won't turn off my computer anymore and i have to manually turn it off.
Assuming you have an ATX Power Supply & APM is enabled in the BIOS...
Go to Power Options in the Control Panel and click the APM Tab.
Make sure that "Enable Advanced Power Management" is checked.
It should do the trick.
I had the same problem, but when I followed these instructions, my computer did not shut down, it restarted. I simply can't make my win2k shutdown!
I also knew about a hack in the registry at www.regedit.com (go to search and type "shutdown".
Have to have a appi supported mb or you will have to shutdown manually. Changing things in win2k won't matter unless your motherboard supports it. I know my older mb i have to shutdown manually but my epox 8kta2 and 8kta3 shutdown on there own.
Reboot your system and go to the bios and check to make sure ACPI (I think that's how it's spelled) is enabled. If it isn't, your system won't shut down at all...hope this helps =)
