How Do I Attach Plastic Grill/Filter Covers Over Blow-Holes?

How do I attach 80mm Plastic grill/filter covers? I just got two from 2CoolTek that I want to use over the intake and exhaust blowholes I cut in my Enlight 7237. The actual holes are just a tad under 80mm. I'm currently using metal finger guards and 80mm fans held together with sheet metal screws, lock washers and bolts. The holes I drilled for the screws line up perfectly with openings at the four corners of a grill/filter.

Although I like the "industrial" look with the metal finger guards I think the grill/filter covers I ordered will give my case a more finished, professional look.

If it helps, take a look at the grill/filter covers here.

I'm currently using 3M double-sided mounting froam tape to mount all of my fans, fan grills and other parts in my computer.

WalkingDead: Thanks for the reply. I must admit, that's an approach I wouldn't have thought of. I checked it out at a couple of sites. Is it something I can pick up at a hardware store, e.g., Home Depot?

Try drilling holes in the filters and screw them in with the fans. You could put them on the outside, or if your hole isn't too ugly, put them on the inside between the metal and the fan.

Unless I am mistaken (yours' look identical to mine), those plastic filter housings 'snap' open to reveal the 4 mounting holes that are intended for mounting the filter housing! You will need 'countersunk', flat-head #6-32 machine screws of whatever length (you need to measure) in order that the top of the filter housing will snap back on; round-head or button-head screws will not allow the housing to go back together. You may also use 'self-tapping' screws made specifically for PC fans, as long as you can find them long enough to go thru both the filter housing AND the case; most of these type screws ARE flat-head, countersunk!

any further questions or for more detail, please feel free to leave me a private message.

Dan,

You can find those mounting tape in any ACE hardware, True Value hardware, Office Depot, Staple and Office Max. The 3M Scotch brand with green checkers is the best. It's strong enough to hold a hard drive on the side of the case. It doesn't leaves sticky stuff when you remove them. Mount & re-mount in sec and it reduces vibrations too.

WalkingDead: Thanks for the follow-up. fast_eddie was right on the money though. I took his advice and I'm good to go!

Dan,
Using filters on your exhaust fans will just restrict airflow unnecessarily....
no use filtering air on the way out...............?
