Why not just telephone the company if it is a company and ask who you should be addressing the letter to.. If I receive a letter saying "to whom it may concern" I just think it's lazy and throw it in the bin. If you know the name you can always contact that person afterwards as it is likely that they did receive the letter and it makes it far more difficult to use the excuse "the letter could have gone anywhere in the organisation"...
Thanks shagga. I was thinking about doing just that, but wasn't sure because it is going to a general jobs@... email address which means through HR. I will try to get the person's name though who will be doing the interviewing.
