How do I access my Linksys internet camera?

I bought a Linksys Internet Video Camera, and I can access it from within my network (192.168.1.115) but they don't tell you how to access it from outside. They try to sell you a SoloLink DDNS service "so that your friends and family don't have to remember IP addresses." - and they don't even say how.

Any ideas? I have a linksys router and I've forwarded the suggested port (1024) to the local IP address of the camera (192.168.1.115), and I know the IP address assigned to me by my ISP (its dynamic but I can tell what it is, at least for a while.)

In explorer, if I type in my IP address, I get the login screen for my router, and if I put :1024 on the end I get "Page cannot be displayed".

Thanks
John

I think they mean for you to use a DNS service (No-Ip is a good one) to make static IP for your webcam. Then you forward the appropriate ports to the webcam. That is my best guess.

Fixed it, I think...

Port 1024 wasn't working - maybe something to do with my ISP. Tried a different port - now I can type in my ISP-assigned IP address😛ort and access the camera.

I'll get family to test it tomorrow.
