And there is another way . . . Start, Settings, Control Panel, and click on DirectX. It is an iconized entry. You then get the installed DX menu with tabs different from DXDiag.
You disable the 16 Bit Emulator for SB in Device Manager, then highlight the 16 SB, click on Properties, and put an "X" in the box for "Disable in this Configuration." That will take it out and you will see a red X on it in D/M.
