How do guys make themselves look hot?

Am I missing something? It seems like I can spend 15 minutes shaving, showering, putting on deoderant/aftershave/cologne, getting dressed, and be ready to go out. But it takes girls a long time (hour+) to get ready - they really put a lot of work into doing their hair, makeup, lipstick, etc, and making themselves look good for us. Is there something I'm missing? It seems like they spend a lot of time working to look good for us, be we spend virtually zero time looking good for them. Are we shortchanging the women in our lives? Or am I just slow and I'm missing something I could be doing? Thoughts and comments appreciated.

what you're missing is that guys would look a lot better if they all spent an hour. you just suffer from low expectations of how a guy should look with relation to how a girl should look.

So raise my expectations - I mean, I don't know what else I would do! That's the extent of my knowledge of making myself look presentable, lol.

smell good, look clean, and believe me, girls will notice you.

(oh..and it helps if you have confidence)

and believe me, there are some girls who spend much less time in the bathroom getting ready.

There are girls who spend lot of time on putting chemicals on their face (ie, makeup) and there are girls who don't.

All depends on the girl.

Guys are lucky in many ways.

Girls are luckier, they decide when they want to get laid.

Errrr...grooming tips? :)

We don't have to deal with putting on makeup (errr....I'm not speaking for transvesties, but that's an entirely different topic) so that saves us a lot of time.

However, i DO know girls who are going to go out without makeup because they don't feel the need to put some on. Does that make them any less attractive? Definiately not to me.

well, I'm engaged, so getting the girl isn't the problem. She's happy with me, but she puts a lot of effort - well, a lot more effort than me, it seems - in getting ready for a date. She's not one who overdoes it in the least, she had a good sense of style and taste and all that. I just want to know if there's anything more I can do for her, because I want to give back what she's given to me, and I kinda feel like maybe I'm shortchanging her or something because I can get ready so quick.

From your first topic, doesn't look like your missing anything....

as far as I can tell anyways. I'm not the master of style.

Girls who spend an hour getting ready aren't dressing just for you - they're dressing for other women. We do want you to think we look good, but it boils down to a competition thing, basically. So don't sweat it, just practice saying, "yes, dear". ;)

if guys wore makeup you can bet it'd take them 20 minutes to an hour. that and hair brushing is where all the time is spent. I don't think your woman is going to want you looking like a movie star, all full of makeup.

so, as a girl, what do you look for? I try to look good for her and treat her good as well...is there anything else I can do? I kinda feel like I might be missing something lol.

It doesn't take my gf that much longer to get ready. She 'can' take longer if she wasn't rushed for time.

Me I take my time but in the end it doesn't take me much time to get ready. I don't wear make up so no problems there. Long hair? Mine is short.

Suprise her with some flowers or sexy lingerie at times. Or just little gifts. Go take her to work. Pick her up sometimes.

You are doing fine. Just give her a few suprises every so often.

She'll let you know if you're missing anything. All you have to do is pay attention, and tell her how much you care about her. Anything else is just personal preference, and you know what works for her better than I do.

Well guys have a couple of "advantages". We don't wear makeup (uh, most of us at any rate) and we have shorter, easier to manage, hair. Those two things take a TON of time if you are the average girl. Also, most guys don't spend as much time picking out clothes either, girl's fashion tends to have a lot more variety than men's. Not to say a shower, shave, fixing your hair and putting on some cologne doesn't take time...but there are fewer things to do.

Besides, as someone pointed out, girls compete with each other, guys don't in the same way. Being "manly" has very little to do with how your are dressed, it's a lot more about attitude. Why do you think social settings like bars and clubs seem to have a higher percentage of jackasses than you would expect?

I get hit on by gay guys alot.

My girl says its because for some reason no matter what I'm wearing I look like I'm dressed nice. If I'm wearing warmups and a nike shirt or somethin, she says it still looks like I'm wearing Structure. Thus..gay guys think i'm hot.

Maybe its cuz I'm in shape? I don't know.

hmm...it seems like its so much easier being a guy than a girl. I wonder why it isn't more balanced...

I just want to make sure I'm treating her as best I can and looking as good as I can, because she does a lot for me. I want to make her feel special, ya know? I just want to make sure I'm giving back what I'm getting and then some :)

Edit: w00t! 400th post!

That's cool. I've dated guys who could learn a thing or two from you.
