How do get file-sharing to work over an ipx/spx network

I have two computers hooked up using a crossover cable on an IPX/SPX network. The network works for DirectPlay games, but not for filesharing (yes, I have it enabled) or Quake III. How do I get those things to work?

Q3 uses TCP/IP. Try adding that protocol, and it should do the trick for file sharing as well.

For TCP/IP...need IP addresses/gateways, but not hub.

For file-sharing: Add the Protocol: NetBIOS over IPX/SPX, and set it to default. (I know it works, because I use it myself :) )

You have to make sure under the IPX Protocol properties that its Bindings are to the print and file sharing...I don't have netbios ticked off but I also have TCP/IP asociated with the ethernet adaptor as well. IPX will be the default unless you set the TCP/IP properties to make it the default protocol...yes you will have to setup ip addresses but I have a LINUX DHCP server that does that for me so I can't really help out with that...FP
