Have you tried using fdisk to remove whatever that win2k partition is and creating a new partition?

i would remove any old partition used with win2k, and then create a new partition and then format.

You probably used NTFS under Win2K....to remove the partition, put in your Win2K CD and boot from it....go through the setup screen as if you were installing the OS again, when you get to the screen to pick which partition to install the OS on, just delete all of the partitions.

Now, boot using a Win9x boot disk and you can partition and format from there.

or you could just boot with the me disk, run fdisk at prompt, delete the ntfs partition, make a fat32 one, reboot, format...

for some reason fdisk cannot delete NTFS partitions. Like the post above you are gonna have to boot into Windows 2000 setup.
