A roundtrip to Cancun from NY costs $650 per person in mid-November and the same in mid-December. Doesn't even matter if departure is a weekend or weekday. $1300 for travel alone is ridiculous to me.. or is this normal for there?

I need to know when the cheapest flights are anytime from Oct-Dec. And not necessarily to Cancun but as long as it's anywhere far from NY. Anyone know ?

I don't think theres any "real" reason. They just are. sometimes there is a reason(i.e. last minute, international)but to find the best time and look ahead call an agent and have them do the looking for you

Strange then, that a non-important week in November would be priced the same as Christmas week... :| :| :|

Prices on flights go both up and down. They seem to start high to catch those that make early plans. Then when the plane doesn't fill fast enough prices drop. When the plane is fill enough, the prices go back up. The final seats (sold just before the flight) are the highest. That is what happen on a flight from NY to San Diego. I checked prices for 6 months, Prices went from $350 to $205 and back to 350 a month before the flight ( I bought at $215).

Have you considered Bermuda, Bahamas or even Florida (Naples,
Ft. Lauderdale, St Augustine, Boca, Palm Beach, etc.)?
