Thats about how much I had to eat while I was in Iraq to keep gaining. Now I'm down to about 4500 per day, but its really not easy.

I enjoy eating food too, but you can limit yourself and still once or twice a week have a big meal that you really enjoy.

Weight Gain 4000.

Consuming even a weight gainer shake when not hungry is not the easiest at times. They don't exactly taste like milk shakes either.

Cream. It's delicious.

Well, he WAS in Iraq, so I doubt he could easily find a big brick of Brie and follow it up with a nice alfredo.

But yeah, it's easy to gain weight in the US. Go make a creamy dish

I don't enjoy exercise, I don't enjoy veggies. I might not even make it to see 60, but I will be happy until the day I die.

your grandfather may have been a rare exception. usually you don't do what you want, then drop dead. It usually starts with diabetes and high cholesterol, high blood pressure, meds. Then bad knees, bad back. ulcers from the meds. You get my point. Maybe you make it to 40 ok, but then it's down hill. 20-30 years of misery.

Okay, the theory is moronic, but it does have *some* logic

That explains why there are no fat gay people. I never realized that before!

There are fat gay people. Look at Rosie O'Donnell.

One of them is crazy skinny, she eats In & Out Burger 1-2 times each week, almost never exercises, and drinks tons of beer.

I even exercise just as much, sometimes more; I go on hikes, I ride my bike around. Many of my thinner friends don't exercise at all.

OP, have you ever stopped to consider that some people are just predisposed to be fat? Your ignorance is astounding.

Yes, you may be an endomorph instead of an ectomorph but you can adjust your body through monitoring caloric intake.

The OP's question is kind of like some young punk asking why people allow themselves to get old. Don't they own mirrors?

It happens. Unlike getting older, obesity is preventable, but some of the same causes are there. The metabolism slows down, stress hormones go up, exercise becomes harder, food intake stays the same. For most people, getting fat is something that just happens to them slowly over time, a few pounds a year without them even realizing it.

Yes, I could become anorexic. That sounds like a grand time.

No, seriously, with the amount that I exercise compared to the amount that I eat, I can't possibly be breaking even (I don't eat much). Where does one draw the line? Cutting off more and more food will just cause my metabolism to plummet, so I'll be burning less and consuming less, which provides no net benefit.

You may be able to adjust your body with caloric intake, but I can't. People are different, and I wish more people were okay with that.

See you in a week!

Boy, 16 years old, a bigot and "tons o' fun." You must be a hit with the ladies.

I didn't realize people ate a lot to upset gay folks.

That's not quite what I meant - I was simply pointing out his most attractive qualities.

Wrong. You have no understanding of the concept of the human metabolism. Your metabolism will drop if you calories drop below a certain level. However, you can be under your caloric maintenance by a % (usually around 500 calories) and your metabolism will stay the same. When you start halving the calories required for caloric maintenance, then your metabolism drops.

You can adjust your body to whatever. Your body is easily modified if you know what to do. You obviously don't understand how the body works. People ARE different, but the body is the same general machine.

PS: Technically, you might have let yourself go. I don't use the BMI much, but you're classified as obese.

Face facts, BlahBlah, you're brain obese. Fathead deposits coat your cortex. Admit it, you're a fathead, a lard tard . . . you have cellulose where you should have synapses.

It's all your fault, too. You binge on junk media, and you never exercise your powers of higher reasoning. You're a big fat poster child for big fat childish posters.

So get your fat, flabby posting personae off the internet, blubber brain.

You're hogging bandwidth and leaving grease stains of your stupidity everywhere, snide wide ride.

Now go get someone to sound this all out for you, k?

I think Tall Bill has the most convincing argument. Like TallBill, I have been skinnier, but somewhat fat. I now weigh around 172 lbs at ~6' and I'm trying to gain at least three more pounds. I work out when I can, which, being young, I am able to more, but it is quite a bit of a mental thing.

I also go swimming for toning, and eat lots of quality meat. Steak is not healthy, but it is healthier than mcdonalds, so I eat a lot of that. Chicken is a normality for me.

I used to think along the lines of many of the more overweight people here, but I am truly happier having a more healthy, or at least, a more muscular body, although I am hardly terminator material.

I have been lifting more intensively this summer, and I plan to keep doing it throughout this year. Peeps look at me more admiringly, and it's just better. You also gain a sense of discipline and this enables you to gain more confidence and comfortably deal with stress and enjoy life.

You certainly can be healthy and happy, but overdoing one or the other can only lead to an imbalance.

depends on what makes you happy, I enjoy eating Chili Cheese Fries, Burgers & Chicken Wings. Healthiness doesn't fit in what makes me happy. I will die from my diet but that's the price I'm willing to pay to be happy/

Ok, so I make it to 40 (6 years) and it's down hill as you say. I will be miserable if I have all the symptoms you brought up, but I will be just as miserable if I eat healthy. My dad has high cholesterol and blood pressure, but it's not like he's living in pain. He's on pills and the doctor's telling him to fix his diet, he's not healthy but to say he's miserable wouldn't be close to accurate.

I too enjoy doing that. However, you can have a balance between being healthy and eating that stuff. You don't enjoy playing sports or being strong? Maybe just just keep in reasonable shape so you can play with your kids in the future, etc. I dunno, I just don't get how eating those things should hinder your fitness. Just exert some self control.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't...

I'm not here to convince you otherwise. I hate dieting also and refuse to do it. from my earlier post.
"I was overweight going into my 30's when I decided to do something about it. I didn't want to diet because I love to eat and drink beer. I also didn't have time for the gym So I gave up my car for the most part and started to bike to work or just about anywhere I could. Getting my workout in when most people go to and from work seemed like a good window of opportunity for me. After a few thousand miles I wasn't loosing weight (got mad), but I was just getting more trim and skinnier. It wasn't until after I put on enough muscle that I started, and now I struggle to keep weight on. I usually cannot eat enough and drink enough beer to maintain my weight, something I thought would be impossible 10 years ago."
