how do e-tickets work?

do i get an email of my ticket of what? I ordered some airplane tickets awhile ago online through orbitz.com, and it says "An e-ticket has been issued for this reservation"..

"An e-ticket is a paperless method of ticketing flights.

Unless otherwise indicated, Orbitz issues e-tickets for all flights for which they're available. Orbitz sends your reservation information to the airline and a flight confirmation to you. This confirmation will include the ticket number issued by the airline.

Since you're required to have this in order to check in at the airport and pass through the security checkpoints, print out the confirmation and bring it with you to the airport.

Remember, with e-tickets you will not be receiving paper tickets."

so all i have to do is print out the itinerary? or what? thanks

What you're thinking about is probably the boarding pass. Go to the airport with your confirmation email printed and they'll check you in and give you a boarding pass that you'll need to display to get through security and get on the plane.

When you're at the ticket counter, you just tell them your e-ticket #

Or if its an automated machien teller, you'll need the info. Either way, you will need to jot down some codes to get a physical ticket to board the plane.

When you get to the airport, walk up to a kiosk, swipe some ID and it will check you in, let you choose your seat (depending on the airline) and ask if you have any checked luggage.

WTF, have you never flown before?

yes.. this is my first time flying.. 🙁.. im only 19.. so yeah...

but yeah.. thanks for the help..

E-tickets + self-check in = from airport to gate in 15 minutes. Best way to fly. Try and stuff everything into one suitcase that you can carry-on. Make sure to not bring any knives or anything through security, otherwise you'll give the guard a new corkscrew (happened to me). Flying = Awesome.

print your boarding pass out from the airline website within 24 hours of your flight or just show up at the airport with your ID and credit card that you used to buy the ticket
that is all you need

if you kept the confirmation (or whatever they call that number) number , then you can bring that, but you don't have to have it

It's all good, flying can be confusing if you've never done it before.

Yup, buy the tickets online, go to airport, use automated machine, swipe credit card, get tickets, check bagage, get to gate.

E-tickets are the way to go, I usually print the intinerary, helpful to show them, keep it on hand anyway. Don't have to worry about loosing a paper ticket. They'll have all the info in their computers. Very easy, have fun flying, I love to fly. 🙂

Watch the monitors in the airport for flight information, departure and arrival, just follow the signs on where you need to go, you'll be fine.

What airport are you flying out of? If you're flying out of JFK, they have like 9 terminals... you might want to figure out which one you're going to ahead of time.

I am departing from La Guardia.... shouldnt be that difficult

United's Easy Check-In thing FTW.

1. Buy tickets online
2. Use Milage Plus card on their machine, bam, boarding passes for my entire party' I assigned seats when I bought the tickets, so I'm set
3. Board?
4. Profit!
