How do DVD burners in notebooks

Right now my desktop does not have a DVD burner in it, and soon I am looking to purchase a notebook with a DVD burner. So I was wondering, in general, how do the DVD burners in lnotebooks compare with the DVD burners in desktops. If I am going to be copying a lot of DVD's would it be better to just buy a new burner for my desktop? Just wondering what you guys think I should do.

Edit: Id rather have it on my notebook, though, because my desktop is a peice of crap.

I'd suggest one for your desktop. Storage and speed are at a premium on laptops.
I haven't once used the DVD burn capabilities in my laptop, and I've had it for about a year. I've also only burnde 2 cds.
If you're a person that ONLY has a laptop then it might be used more though.
