i would be obliged if anyone could tell me the proper functioning of dics breaks in a bike. how does it work and why is it so good. anyone knows??

If disc brakes are anything in a bike like they are in a car, you have a disc with a brake pad on each side. When you apply the brake, the pads clamp down on the disc, thus slowing it down 🙂

/me hopes disc brakes in a bike are similar to car's disc brakes 😀

Biggest advantage IMO is, if your wheel goes out of true is will NOT effect your brakes!

I'll help scrounge for a little more info. How many econobox imports use rotors with cooling fins as shown here? Every one I've seen pulled apart has only a single, thin disc that is prone to warping, and generally can not be resurfaced. I've NEVER had a vented disc that uses cooling fins, warp on me. Seems the bigger, beefier rotors would be cheaper, and less problematic in the long run.
