How do computer hardware companies make $$....

by offering rebates? Do they "borrow" your money temporarily or hope that you don't bother sending in your rebate? Or what?

hehe,ill bet it isnt too far off from that,altho i dont have much faith at all in rebates as i have filed quite a few,and am lucky if ive gotten half the rebates i was supposed to.
I think it also may have to do with a company overproducing a certain amount of things,or of course slow sales.

Sometimes they give away so many "Value Dollars", and manage their business in a way that assures they don't make any money.

Kaieye, exactly.... say they pull 7% interest on it for two months or so, it def. can help their bottom line. Also, you do get ALOT of people who intend to send in a rebate and never quite get around to it, or send it in after the due date, or without the necessary items, so it can be rejected.
