how do cd laser cleaners work?

it's a cd that never comes in contact with the laser, isn't it?
so how does it clean it?

The CD has little brushes on it that wipe the laser to get rid of dust.

It reflects the laser beam back at the lens, instantly vaporizing any dirt clinging to it. If you flip the CD over the other way it will reflect the laser out into your house causing severe structural damage to your home and belongings. It's best to do it outside, especially in a park or other open area, or at a friend's house.

i take that as a facetious answer.

as for the CD having brushes, i definitely don't see it.

All the ones I've seen have a brush or two on them. They're pretty small.
