If you purchase Win 2k with 5 cals does this mean you have 5 product registration keys to type into the server to allow a maximum of 5 clients to connect? Or is the 5 CAL stipulation simply the number of maxiumum clients that can connect to the server with out you typing any product keys and such for each of the clients?

Bear in mind I am a noob and just don't understand if I should have received a sheet of 5 products licence codes to type in or if they are built into the product and I do not have to type anything in.

No. You just have 1 product key to enter into the server.

CALs are not a hard limit; you simply specify in the licensing MSC that you have 5 of them and the server keeps track of client connections. If you exceed 5 clients than the server does not stop serving, it just logs a warning in the event log so that you know you need to purchase more.
