How do ATP3 compare to the Logitech Z-340's?

Anyone know how these two compare to each other? I know someone who has the ATP3's and they sounded pretty good for 2.1's.. and they can get pretty loud.

I don't know if I want the 560's anymore.. simply cuz I don't know if I wanna spend nearly $300 ($235 for the speakers.. $38 for shipping.. $20 tax).. and I'll only be using them for my dorm room.. that's why I'm considering the z-340's instead.. $69 before shipping and tax..

In my experience, the Altec Lansing ATP-3 speakers have had a "brighter" sound - more treble, than the Logitech speakers. The Logitech speakers have always seemed a bit "muddy" to me. With my ATP-3s, I've just dropped the treble a bit to get rid of the brightness. If you look around, Costco used to have the ATP-3 speakers for $39.99 - which is a very good deal when compared to the $58 that I paid for mine.

Just thought I'd point 2 things out. You're getting these from ncix, aren't you? And I think the 540's are worth the extra $20 CND or so over the 340's.

I've owned both... And I'd take the ATP3's over the Z-340's any day. Imho, there's no area where the Z-340's excel, compared to the ATP3's.

Just thought I'd point 2 things out. You're getting these from ncix, aren't you? And I think the 540's are worth the extra $20 CND or so over the 340's.

yeah no doubt.. I would have definately chose the 540's over the 340's.. but I'm looking for speakers that have a headphone jack and the 540's don't have one. Quiet hours here in my dorm are at 11:00pm on school nights so I'd need to use headphones whenever I'm gaming or playing music after that time ..

maybe I might as well just go with the 560's ... but it's not that easy.. .$300 frickin dollars..

Personally, if you're looking for volume, I'd stray from the ATP3s... they are pretty tame, I owned a pair for 3 months or so... sound quality is fantastic on them. I've got the 560's now, and they rock hard ONCE you get the equalizer set up right. Plus, nearly unlimited volume in a small area like a dorm

yeah it basically apples and oranges youre comparing..

the z560s are top of the line.

the z340s and the altecs are just decent affordable pc speakers..
