How difficult is it to go into a university?

I'm going to start attending community college early next spring. I was wondering when I finish community college and apply for a university, would it be hard to get in?

Well, hopefully you'll learn to use the word difficult rather than hard! Just kidding... but the difficulty of being accepted into a school is relative to which school it is. Some school pretty much take anyone, some don't.

I just want to go to a calstate or uc school or any university in so cal that's not difficult. To get my degrees in bussiness adminstration and management.

Well, most universities just let you walk in, so it's not exactly difficult to "go in" as opposed to actually taking classes there. 😉

Get the best grades you can at the community college. It opens many more doors at universities than average or poor grades. Most universities will have some minimum GPA standard for automatic acceptance. Check with the specific universities that you're considering attending.

what was the question?

you're not going to get into anything good with a 2.0 in a CC... the better grades you have, the more opportunities you will have, and you might even get scholarships.

well cal states are fairly easy to get in, UC Riverside, Santa Cruz and Irvine are ok, the other UCs are tough.

I did not have th emonye to go straight to a UNC school. So I went to a CC for 2 years. But there is a deal setup that if you get a 3.0 or higer GPA then you will get into a UNC school, period. So I transfered to UNCW and Grad. with a BS in Business Admin. Double Cont. of IS and Business Mgt.

So if you have a 3.0 (which is not to hard for 90% of CC's) then I say you should be able to get in pretty easy. If you have less then a 3.0 then after you get your AA degree then transfer in duting the summer and get a A in a class or 2, ask for a letter from one of your summer teachers and then apply.

Many factors comes in when your dealing with UC admissions, sometimes you can't even figure out their decisions. You mentioned you wanted a degree in buisness and management so I'm guessing your aiming for UC Berkeley. You want around a 3.8 GPA for that school, some outstanding work experience and extra currics are more important for Haas. That specific school is an exception for transfering. Most schools just care about your GPA. Another UC with a business program is UC Riverside, you can pretty much get a 2.8 and get into that school. With a 2.0 you might even get rejected to the higher ranked CSUs like cal poly Pomona or SLO. Good luck.
