How did you prepare for the SATs?

I did nothing. That prepared me pretty well. I scored about 200 or 300 points higher than this guy that actually did a princeton review type course for it.

i had some software, i think it was from kaplan. that and some practice tests. i dunno, i did pretty well, i think it helped a lot for the verbal section.

when i took my first practice test at home, i was getting 1090's and stuff not very good scores at all, but my SAT score on two tests was 1200 and 1250, so they helped me for about 150 pts, i thought it was worth it cuz i learned a vocab and strengthened my math skills

signed up for an SAT prep course at my high school but I had baseball practice on Saturday mornings when the classes were held so I went to practice instead 🙂

I took a prep course ... but looking back, it was a waste of money. The only real benefit of the course was all the practice exams. Go buy yourself "10 Real SAT's", and have at it.

Good Luck!

I did not study for it at all and did okay and I think I got drunk the night before the tests. If I had studied for it I would have done much better.

So do you think you would have done better drunk or sober? 😕

princeton review class was ok, it only really taught me 2 things that helped me:

1. if there are 5 answers and u can eliminate 2, then guess
2. for reading section, dont read the whole paragraph first, just read the questions and skim the passage around where the question refered to.

these 2 things helped me bring up my score a little bit. before the course on my psat i got an 1130, and after it on my sat i got a 1280 (thats w/ a little bit of  and staying out late the night before 😉)

Bought the big, red, 10 real SATs book and finished it. Got me 180 points on my verbal section (that was all I did)

Never studied and went partying the night before. The part that hurt me was sleeping in between sections, I have never been a morning person and 8:30am was too early. I ended up with a 1280. I think it is good to know the style of questions asked and how the test is given, but beyond that preparing is not going to help too much.

I got 3 hours of sleep and didnt eat any breakfast... And I got a 1320 first try.

Don't sweat it, the test is easy. Just show up and you will do fine.

I actually teach for the princeton review, and I have to say that taking a prep course won't help you much if you don't do any work for it. If you do a fair amount of work, then you should be able to raise your score a lot. I have had students go up 400 points just from taking the course and doing work while they did it.

I just did everything like I normally do any other day. Honestly, if you've had a good enough preparation throughout school and are able to get the basic concepts behind the questions, it's not really all that hard of a test. (1470 here, BTW)
