I am entering college and I am just wondering how you guys raised money to pay for your education. I am going to be paying for mine using a combination of grants, scholarships, a job, and my parents. I thought it would be interesting to find out how all of you paid for college. Also, if you have any tips or experience, posting them would be nice.

In short, how did you pay for college?

Um, my option isn't really up there. Neither of my parents are rich, but they still have managed to pay my tuition (on my own for rent, car, etc) ONLY because instead of squandering my father's child support payments, my mother put them into savings specifically to pay for my education.

my parents paid for freshman through junior year.

during summer between junior and senior year, I got my trust fund, so I paid them back for the previous 3 years and paid for senior year myself. I also had a couple scholarships, but nothing really outstanding.

I paid for it through a combination of scholarships/grants/etc., 3 semesters of paid Co-Op experience during college, and taking out a student loan my senior year.

My parents are paying for mine.

My sister will be going to college immediately after I graduate (she's 4 yrs under me), so I'll be paying for hers...so in a way I guess it's like a 0 interest loan from my parents, lol.

Combination of scholarships and getting a job.
My parents paid for textbooks and other supplies, but wanted me to take care of the main force of it. I plan on doing the same to my kids.

MGI Bill/Military disability. Using student loans for Grad school though, as my GI Bill ran out and my wife is starting grad school in the fall so we are going broke. On a good note though the GI Bill/disability paid for both undergrad degrees I took and I only had to pay books out of pocket. Not too bad considering. But with Grad school costing 33k a year, I will be in debt with student loans for a loooong time.

girl: so my parents are going to buy me a car.
dude: so what are you looking for?
girl: i don't know, its not like they love me, they won't spend much on me.
dude: so how much?
girl: i don't know, like 23000 or something, maybe those g35

financial aid is covering for me for now, but a lot of it are loans. I will have to pay it all off at the end, but I enjoy what I'm learning so its worth it. I pay for everything, cell phone bills, rent, text books, etc. Currently i'm working two jobs too. 1 more year of school left.

Yep, I don't see the "I wrote checks form my bank account that I earned myself" option.

Work during the summer (FT) and during school (PT) and I got some bursaries. That was enough to save me ~35%/year. I am taking a year off between 3rd and 4th years working FT, so I'll save up the rest during that period.
