How did you mount/setup your Logitech Z5500's or similiar speakers?

hey synthdude, i'm planning on buying the X-530s but there's one thing troubling me, when you flipped the speaker stand to mount it, do you use screws or something to mount it onto the wall?

Yeah, I used a simple 3/4" #8 flat head wood screw (well, two of them) screwed into the wall with just a little of the head exposed, then you basically "hang" the speaker stand on top of it like you would a picture frame or clock or something. Let me know if you need any more help (or pics), etc.

I just got my Z-5500 yesterday and am going to try and mount the rear speakers (and maybe the front left/rights) tonight. Pics if all goes well! Good thing this thread showed up, I wasn''t sure if I should just screw them into the wall or not... seems kinda crude, but should work! 🙂

But ya think these speakers can hang on drywall? Or should I put them in studs? (which may not be optimally located)

i think most speakers can hang on drywall...depends on the weight/size


anyways, i have a question to those who currently have a 5.1 system, because of size/length of cables and my room, i would not be able to put the speakers directly behind me. I was wondering if putting the speakers approximately 1 metre behind me mounted on the left/right wall would work. The speakers would be the X-530, so you won't be able to tilt the speakers when mounted

wow, i couldn't find a picture....but yeah, that's basically what i was thinking about but the bottom speakers can not be angled to point at me, would this setup still work? I would be playing games and i would like the 5.1 system to allow me to hear where the enemy is. If this setup isn't fairly good, i'll go for a 2.1 setup. Thanks for all your time.

Because of room limitation I kind of have my own surround speakers pointed almost forwards. Still works fine for me.

More than a 2.1 setup would be.

Even if the speaker isn't pointed right at you, you'll still be able to tell the sound is coming from the side of you.
