I bought a motherboard and saw it on the box. Motherboard had a good rating from here. Along with other sites and checked them out.

Dogpile search result for "hardware review" way back in 1999. I registered in the forums a year later.

My friend told me about this board's HotDeals section. :)
That was probably 4 1/2 years ago.

I was over on Sharky Forums (part of Sharky Extreme) for a while. Then the forums pretty much all but died, and all the good members mentioned they were switching - and most came to Anandtech. I reluctantly followed (posted at both for a few months), but now I'm quite glad I did. I haven't been back to Sharky's for quite some time.

HardOCP banned me for saying a bad joke, so I searched Google for "Computer forums". :)

A co-worker of mine got tired of me asking questions about computers and gave me the URL.

I found AnandTech back in 97. I remember searching for overclocking on altavista and finding AT's overclocking guide. At the time I had a crappy K6-233 ... I never got it to run stable with any OC, though running it at 225 offered slightly better performance in games because it was running a higher FSB. ahhh, Quake on my pure3D used to be the coolest thing.

high school friend and freshman year roommate(same person) told me about it when I was trying to find a driver fix for a3d vortex 2 sound card after they went out of business.
