well I used Scarecrow for the longest time . . . still known as that name in certain undernet channels, but it gets taken to often now . . . so this was my fallback name. I liked the way it sounded. And I've always had a thing for catholic practices/mythology even though I'm not catholic, nor do i desire to be. So here I am :)

agree.

as for me, I used to play the original Outpost a lot on my old mac. it had this building called a 'tokamak' in it and i always wondered what that was. one day i got real bored and looked it up. seemed pretty cool and i like the word, so i started using it.

Character (demon) from some scifi book, with my age tacked on at the end since there's already an "astaroth" who posts here.

there's a sculpture at my school that in an "altered" state looked like it was dancing. I said peacocks then, but they're some generic bird, not necessarily peacocks. Happened about a week before I registered here :)

A buddy on my basketball team called me "Kinger" back in 8th grade and it kinda stuck with me. Six years later only my family and close friends know my real name...everyone else knows me as "Kinger".:)

My nick is a pun on my last name. I normally go by Wiz, but that was already taken(bastard :)) and so i opted for this. I'm still known as Wiz on heatware and when i used to play FPS online. I was good at Delta Force

Sanger Rainsford is a character from the short story by Richard Connell, "The Most Dangerous Game". He's this guy that gets trapped on an island with a Russian General that likes to hunt people, and he hunts Rainsford. But Rainsford turns the tables on the General and ends up killing him. I liked the story and Rainsford seemed like a cool guy, so I started using it as a screen name.

Well now, sit down so ol' uncle Praetor can tell you the story of how he came to be. :p

I was actually thinking of going by Praetorite Vong after the Yuzzhan Vong from the Star Wars: New Jedi Order series of books. There, they are the elite warrior cast, sometimes doing jobs that appear to bring shame to them but greater glory to the Yuzzhan Vong.

But then I thought it was too long. So I went with Praetor, thinking that it meant emperor (from ST: TNG's Romulans), but turned out to not quite mean that. (link) I like it though. :D

mines apart of my real name. "HeangKoing Chea". I use Koing as its easier for people to say and its shorter then saying "HeangKoing". Also no one has it so I can use it.

A manager from Office Max told me to come to this forum for some technical advice. I needed a nic, and whatever fantasy book I was reading at the time had some names in it, so I just used one of those. How lame, huh? :D And I never got the technical advice that I needed. To this day, I still have the same problem. *sigh*

I'm a cyclist, and a bit of a fan of cycling history as well. Fausto Coppi was one of the first great italian cycling champions, and led a rather interesting life to boot.
