I ordered a bluray player on Saturday night

It arrived to my house today due to Prime shipping.

HTF do they get it to my door so quickly? They got a hookup with UPS to work on Sunday?

They ship so much UPS that UPS has staff working at their distribution center. Goes directly from Amazon's inventory to the airport.

Local distribution center?

Back in the old days when Amazon was smaller, Free Saver Shipping would arrive in 28~ hours. Ridiculous.

Meanwhile, I ordered something this past Saturday, with prime, got a tracking number for it about an hour later, and it was just scanned in to UPS for an origin scan about 2 hours ago. I won't have it until tomorrow at the earliest.

Lucky bastard.

I get awesome fast shipping from Amazon Prime, too, especially to my office in West L.A.

Monoprice is another fast shipper. Because of the proximity of my place to them, I get almost all my items the next day (if I order before noon), but it feels even faster.

As I have joked many time before, when I am on the MonoPrice website placing an order, I almost feel like they are standing at my door waiting for me to complete my order so they can ring the doorbell and deliver the items.

I'm too cheap to pay the monoprice tax.

Local D.C. where the product is available that is nearest to your location. Saves them on shipping when they sell in volume.

I ordered a used PS2 game on Thursday, and it said it would be delivered on Saturday. I only had five minutes to get it in, and I'm pretty sure I made it. That includes almost four minutes of checkout errors. I would hit the button to finalize the order, and it just went right back to that page. Then it told me that the item sold. o_O

I had to remove it from my cart, re-add it, and then purchase it. The final order page stated that I would still get it on Saturday. I finalized my order, and all was good. I should be receiving it on Tuesday through USPS.

EDIT:

I'd bitch about it, because even if I was a second or two too late, the date should have been moved to Monday. However, I'm not anxiously awaiting the item, and Amazon's been good to me in the past.

They refunded two $3.99 shipping charges when UPS's plane had a mechanical failure, and my package was delayed. I only initiated a chat to ask if my package would be delivered on Saturday instead as that was fine with me. It did get pushed to Saturday.

They also charge about $7 shipping for it.

I don't think it's a big deal. I placed a Monoprice order last night!

5x Right Angle Coax Adapters
2x 1.5ft Coax Cables
1x 3ft Coax Cable

The only bummer is that they lack coax extender adapters, which means I need to pay $5 for two at Target. :(

That's quite impressive. The most impressive I've seen is getting a shipment a day after, but it was in the weekday that I ordered but still very impressive considering it normally takes a week or two.

As for monoprice, you only really save if you buy a lot, which I always do. With shipping near $100 + $100 to $200 in customs, you need to be buying a huge whack of stuff. And Monoprice usually takes a good month or so, so I don't order if I'm in a hurry to get the item. I see it more as a supplier to "stock up" on items I may need later. Last time I ordered from there I got like 10x of every cat6 cable length that I can use, couple rackmount shelves, various keystone jacks, cable ties etc... The actual items came up to around 100 bucks but with shipping and customs it was closer to 300, but given all the stuff I had it was still cheaper that buying anywhere else. Monoprice is good for high volume purchases but not really to buy a single item, unless you happen to be going in that area and can pick it up. (not even sure if they offer that option though)

Prime has been slacking for me lately. A lot of my shipments have taken more than 2 business days because some idiot over there thinks it's a good idea to ship some items via smartpost. Most of these shipments originate from ~200 miles away, so tracking says the packages get there the next day, but for whatever reason the post office holds on to it for an extra 2-3 days.

It's been happening a lot lately for me, mostly with games and blurays.
