How did somebody on Craigslist get my full name?

I just received another stupid spam email courtesy of craigslist for something I put up for sale yesterday. However, the email I got to my account definitely referenced this item in the subject, and in the email they referenced my full name--which is not on the listing in any way. Where did they get it from?

The listing doesn't even have my real email address so they cannot have googled it. And heck my CL account doesn't list my name, either.

reverse lookup of phone number?
I have never contacted the person. Just got the email out of the blue and it emailed my anonymized listing and knew my first & last name somehow.

I have listed this before. It's possible that I emailed this person before over it and they had my real name associated with just the pictures of the listing, so when I re-listed they knew who I was, but really I find that unlikely. It seems far too much effort to go through for a really low quality scam (ipad comes up in the second sentence).

It's not "spam" if it's personalized to that degree. What makes you think it's some sort of scam though?

edit: give us a link to the craigslist ad & we'll see if we can figure out who you are.

Russian mafia. At least if someone shows up at your door asking if you're selling a car, you can say yes.

Was your name referenced in one of the email header fields ("to:" field in particular), or was it listed in the subject or body? If in the "to" field it's more likely that there is some kind of automated system involved. Also, what email client are you using? Are you sure your client didn't somehow insert your name (assuming it's in the "to:" field)?

Another possibility is that you sold your body to this person before and you forgot. Are you sure you didn't do that?

What's up Bob Dole! Are you a real person? I hope so purely because you were picked as a tester for iPad 2 in whatever color of your choice! You are most likely thinking if this is a hoax and the answer is NO! However, in exchange, I would benefit from quality advice from you after using it for a bit. Go ahead and enter your email below within 24 hours to prove you are real or you will be automatically disqualified. Please do not pass the link to anyone else as I only have 1 more iPad 2 left. Thanks a ton!

If so, it means you responded to someone via email and they spammed you with a different account.

Because you didn't bother using a spam email account and put your name in your regular one somewhere.

That was it. They definitely referenced the new craigslist ad, though, so they must have my name associated with the ad (the pictures, since the ad is otherwise anonymous) that I put up previously and I answered an earlier request weeks ago.

F**k I hate craigslist sometimes (most of the time).
