How did my cpu downclock????

I have a AMD athlon xp 2400+.It worked fine with my other motherboard but when I replaced my motherboard with the same model,I used CPU-Z and it said I have a AMD Athlon XP 1800+ !!!!!What just happened?

did you go into the BIOS and see if it's set to the right FSB and Multi? Do that.

Can you tell me how to do that? Beause last time I updated my Bios I had to replace my motherboard.

You don't have to update your BIOS, that doesn't have anything to do with how it recognizes your CPU/Mem speeds, just restart and hit the Delete key, should get you in there. Once there you can mess with the timings, etc.

Thanks for the help,but that wasnt the answer.I called amd and they told me to change a jumper,after that it was back too xp 2400+.
