How did military ranks get their name, and rankings?

JEDI

Lifer
I did a search under "military" and didnt find anything.

so how did lutenant general be ranked higher than major general? etc

edit:
getting closer to the explanation...

"Other than the dates of authorization, nothing has been located as to why the leaf (major/lt cornel) and bar (capt and lt) was selected for officer?s insignia. Military routinely incorporate the design representing their country in their insignia and the eagle with shield, arrows and olive leaves was taken from the Coat of Arms of the United States."

EDIT2:
WRONG FORUM! I'm soooooo sorry... 🙁

I've always wondered about the military rankings. I hope someone answers your question.

Oh and btw, this is a HOT Deal!!
