You're going to need more than 512MB of RAM. That's your bottleneck.

Well it was about 4-5 years ago and it was an old dell 500 mhz T500r with a geforce 256 (sounds good but isnt), was pretty good then, but when i look back on the purchase, i see just how much i overpaid =( oh well that was a long time ago.

Nice rig, Aeterna!!!! Not sure about that Gigagyte motherboard....but it's an NF3250...I'm sure you'll be OK. Nice case, too.

Just curious why you didn't try out the onboard sound. Onboard sound has gotten pretty darn good.

Oh BTW, if you search here in GH, there's a thread about flashing a 9800Pro256mb to a 9800XT. The only diff b/t the two cards is the clock/memory speeds. :)

Both new sets of video cards will be able to play those games. Waiting to see which one is slightly better really isnt worth it

I don't think he wasted his money on the video card. The two best bang for the buck cards out right now are the ATi 9800Pro and the Nvidia 5900XT.
I went with the Leadtek 5900XT and I'm enjoying UT2K4 at an average of 60 fps.
The new cards are still a couple months away. HL2? Duke Nuken Forever.
D3, later this summer. So why buy an X800 now when it's not really needed?
I'll wait until those games are released and then decide on an upgrade.

If this was a response to Nick's post I believe he meant the 256MB 9800 Pro over the 128MB 9800 Pro.
