How did Brandon Lee die?

I may be way off because I don't know much about him but I thought he died in the filming of "The Crow" Got shot with a real bullet when they were supposed to be using blanks. But I just remember hearing that, I don't know anything else about him except that he was Bruce Lee's son.

If I remember right, he was shot on the set of the movie The Crow. There was supposed to be fake bullets in the gun, and somebody put in a real one.

I heard that too, but it doesn't seem like a very real story, more like a rumor? I mean was anyone prosecuted or what? I ask because i just finished watching it, hadn't seen it in years.

Why would a prop gun have a "dummy pellet" in it?!

Brandon was killed because of improper procedures on the set. A bill was sponsored in his name to force studios to work safer.

You see, hollywood studios (not all, but many) use real bulletts in part of their scenes. It is cheaper to just shoot something up for real and film it, rather than try to fake it using F/X. This unfortunately was the case in The Crows studio. After shooting somethings up and filming it, one of the real bullets got mixed in with the blanks, and that cost Brandon his life (and all of us a great star). If I recall, the studio blamed it on crunched prodcution times, and that some safety procedures were not followed because of it. Had somebody actually taken time and check what they were doing, Brandon would probably be alive today.

<< Brandon died at the age of 28 on the set of "The Crow". While filming one scene, where he gets shot repetitively, the cap of a blank (which shoot harmlessly) accidently got lodged in his spine after penetrating his abdomen. The doctors worked desperately for five hours, but it was no use. He was pronounced dead at 1:04 pm the next day. He was supposed to marry Eliza Hutton on April 17. His body was flown to Seattle to be buried beside his father in Lake View Cemetary. On April 3rd, there was a funeral. There were around 400 people there, including Steven Seagal, David Carradine, and Brandon's best friend and Stunt co-ordinator, Jeff Imada. Jeff was so shaken he couldn't even speak. Linda kept everyone spirits up by saying, "Brandon would have wanted this to be a joyful occasion. We're here to be happy and to celebrate the life of Brandon Lee." >>

From Internet Movie Database

he was shot like "the crow". some genius put a real bullet where a blank should had been used, and he got shot.

How dumb can you be to mistake a real round for a blank, I mean weight alone??? The guy who loaded to guns must have been one smart fool.

His death made that one scene in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story particularly eerie. The scene where Bruce is trying to fight off the demon chasing his son.

Mirror?

I visited Bruce and Brandon's graves in Seattle when I was there a few months ago. I don't remember seeing any mirrors.

He did not get shot with a real bullet... kinda.

It was a blank made from a real bullet... only there was a little fragment still in the case that they didn't completely remove and it was accidentally fired.

another rumor I remember hearing was the they used the actual footage of him getting shot during the movie... which I'm sure you all know is BS.

Boberfett...not Bruces burial site, but Bruce's father. I'm not positive, but i believe the mirror was to ward off evil spirits, but it was not placed properly at his burial site. An old asian superstition...but who knows...

Wow, I just watched the Crow with my roomate last week and we were both wondering how he died. I knew it was during the filming of the movie and had to do something with a gun and bullet but now i know. Truly sad. Both his father and him were great men and both had promising careers.

The Crow was a great movie, and Brandon's death was a tradgedy. His martial arts skills were shown more impressively in his other movie, I forget what it's called. Hard Target, or something like that. Of course, he has been immortalitized by Pamela and Tommy naming their son Brandon. Imagine that. The spawn of Pam Anderson And Tommy Lee. Brandon Lee. There should be a fu%king law.

From what I remember from seeing a documentary on this a few times is there are real bullets, then there are just the gunpowder parts, blanks or whatever. Now if you take a real bullet and open it up and reduce the amount of gunpowder you can then use it as a blank I think, or maybe just to get the effect of a bullet coming out, but so it's not fast enough to be lethal. In any case, the actual metal part of one of these weaker bullets did not exit the gun and became lodged in the barrel. No one checked this for whatever reason, and a full powder charge was loaded into the gun the next day. This made the gun fire a normal round (sort of) and it hit the guy. I sort of butchered the technical details, but there's a documentary about this that's on tv every once in a while.
