The cheapest iPad is 500. The most expensive is 800 or 900. 800 or 900 for a fucking iPod Touch with a bigger screen. Literally the same internals.

I paid $54.xx total for a brand new iPod Touch (which retailed for $189 at the time) and all the accessories, an in-car charger/FM transmitter combo, spare phones, and a desktop mini speaker system to plug it into all from Amazon. It was to replace a broken MP3 player used for a 12 hour shift locked in, basically, a Faraday cage.

Suck it.

LOLZ @ Touch = iPad.

That like WalMart gives you the same service as Nordstroms?

A screen a few inches bigger is worth 400-600 more?

Gizmodo ripped one apart. You should crawl out from under your rock once in a while :p

Where are you getting this $400 to $600 more bullcrap from? The cheapest iPod touch 8GB (4th gen) is $229 brand new -- closer to $200 if you can get it on sale. I don't know how you managed to score a brand new iPod touch for ~$50 without using a gift card/certificate, but whatever.

Re: iPad 2; If you don't think that a 9.7" screen is worth it over a 3.5" screen, or that a higher resolution display, or a faster graphics card, or a dual-core processor, or optional 3G connectivity is worth it, then more power to ya.

Nope! If I'm going to spend that much, I'm going to get a nice little laptop that isn't a half-assed computer. In fact, would bury that piece of crap performance wise and is much more practical.

And I won't look like a massive douche walking around with an iSanitarynapkin :p

Gizmodo was catering to the poor.

Now if you didn't need a phone, Touch would beat the iPhone maybe.

iPad is majorly different especially the iPad 2...even with an iPhone 4 it's much more efficient at consuming data.

again, it's about money...apple products aren't meant for those that can't afford things.

I have a Thinkpad, Windows Gaming rig, MBP 13" 2009, MBP 15" 2010, a couple iPhone 4's, iPad.

All different needs/purposes.

I like the idea of the iPhone, I like everything it can do. I want one, but I'm just fine with my archaic flip phone that can't browse the web.

I don't know why anyone would buy an iPad in that price range when they can get a much more practical product (even for cheaper) that'll out perform it. I guess the iPad is for sissy nancy boys who can't carry a big heavy 2lb laptop or something. ;)

The point is that the product's value, to me, isn't worth what Apple charges. I waited to purchase an Apple product until I could do so at a price that I thought was reasonable. How is irrelevant (even though there's an entire sub forum here dedicated to Hot Deals but apparently Apple threads don't have to go into the Apple forum).

I addressed the pricing subject in the post right above this one.

The only Apple products priced higher (out of line with) than the competition are Macs. iPhones and iPads are priced like the competition or cheaper.

It's irrelevant because you're comparing the price of a brand new device (iPad) to that of whatever second hand deal you got from some seller on Amazon.

Yes, $800 for a keyboardless awkward one-handed no mouse/keybard that can't even play flash only because Steve Jobs is losing his freaking mind and is so full of himself that he'd rather take some personal bullshit way too far, crippling his product and therefor intentionally doing something that would hurt business and the company.

Fuck Steve. When he's gone, I bet Apple will calm the hell down and they'll stop being retards within a couple years.

It's completely relevant because I'd consider buying an iPad if it were $200. Maybe even $300, but that's really pushing it.

Fuck, I'd rather buy a $400 piece of shit dell laptop than a cumbersome stifled underpowered overpriced iPad.

That, my friend, is the entire point.

Being you have a flip phone that can't do web just shows how unimportant you are.

While I am working phone calls and email are serious, getting online serious too. If I grow tired of it, I just mute my phone and forget about it for a while.

I can carry an iPad unobtrusively into a restaurant if something goes haywire. A laptop not so much. Not to mention the iPad is ready to go in about 1 second, the laptop takes 10x or more time to boot.

If you don't do anything in life, then yes iPads and other stuff is a waste of money.

You're missing the point because an iPad/Xoom/Galaxy Tab is not comparable to an iPod touch with a 3.5" screen. If you can't understand that, then what is the point of me even discussing this with you.

You're just looking for a fight, and I have better things to do. Later.

Value of product or service rendered.

Is that really hard to understand?

Stop with your personal attacks. Are you even capable of clicking submit without including a personal attack or belittlement of some kind?

While I am working phone calls and email are serious, getting online serious too. If I grow tired of it, I just mute my phone and forget about it for a while.

While I'm working, I walk around a massive lab as an engineering tech testing CPUs that won't see the market for years, literally on the cutting edge of technology. I helped design and build the test platform for one of Intel's most top secret "thingy that I can't talk about" quite a while before Anand got his hands on it to review.

I don't have time for phone calls and email.

I can carry an iPad unobtrusively into a restaurant if something goes haywire. A laptop not so much. Not to mention the iPad is ready to go in about 1 second, the laptop takes 10x or more time to boot.

If I'm walking into a restaurant, I don't give two shits who sees me with a laptop. If I'm taking my laptop into a restaurant, I'm going to accept that I need X-amount of space to place it to work. Tables at restaurants are more than adequate to hold my coffee and doughnut while I work. At least I don't have to hunch over the table to use my laptop because it doesn't lay flat and I don't need to buy ANOTHER product to hold the laptop in a position that I can sit comfortably to use it.

What does "going haywire" have to do with anything? Such a technical term, I don't know where to start!! I must admit, you have me there. iPads never "go haywire" and laptops are ALWAYS doing that! Stupid, stupid laptops. I hate them!

Lastly, it doesn't take but a touch of a button to recover from sleep mode and it's pretty damn quick. If you're going to use the "it boots 2 seconds faster!" nonsense as a legitimate argument, nobody's going to take you seriously.

If you don't do anything in life, then yes iPads and other stuff is a waste of money.

See? More belittlement. Grow up.

lol @ nik gettin owned in this thread.

he must think that all tablets are overpriced and that the tablet market shouldn't exist, since he thinks the ipad isn't worth it and it is on the cheaper side of tablets.

The OS/interface. No stylus. They didn't try to make a regular full blow OS on a tablet that was horrible to navigate.

I've used windows tablets and have an ipad2. The accessibility and ease of use isn't even comparable.

The brand reconogation is also a huge factor and the OS/interface existed long enough on the iPhone/touch that people instantly knew how to put the tablet form to use.

The 4th post finished this thread.

lol @ nik gettin owned in this thread.
nik will debate till the end though, either way.
