115.15mm x 228.6mm x ???mm

I can't find a suitable picture so I can't even guestimate how deep it is.

How good is the fan? I'm hoping to replace it if it isn't amzingly good, but I don't have alot of depth space at the end [end without DVI ports] of the case. Approximately the end 64.5mm of the graphics card.

I also need to know how far along the card the holes for attaching the fan are. Again you would think I wouldve been able to find a clear picture online.

Can anyone help? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

*EDIT*

16mm deep!

FYI evga 8500gts 512mb with stock fan WILL fit Dell E521 with it's crazy btx moterboard. Who says you can't mod a dell.

its not that good at all. i have the same video card right now. ill measure the card now.

EDIT:

Height - 115.15mm
Length - 228.6mm
Got those both off the website. i think you have the dimensions off since the length is what you are looking for.

Ham typos. I apologise.

No, I'm looking for depth. How deep is the card with the standard fan?

Whats wrong with it? Dosen't cool well? Noisy?

Where can you find acceptable-optimal temperatre stats online? [Or is it in the manual?]

Thanks.

You generally don't need the exact measurements for this type of thing. Coolers on video cards usually take 1 or 2 slots. If you have something on the next slot, get a card with a single slot cooler. I can't think of a case were a single slot cooler wouldn't fit unless you're doing something completely custom. The same is true for after market coolers. Only really large coolers take up more than 2 slots.

The 8600GT has a single slot cooler. As you can see, the cooler has no greater 'depth' than the rear backplane. http://images10.newegg.com/New...mage/14-130-084-09.jpg

Cruddy Dell btx, The motherboard that shouldn't exist.... The PCI-e slot is, for some bizare reason, positioned verry close to the processor [cooling array].

If I get a long GPU cooler it won't fit. If the card is really deep it wouldn't fit.
I'M TALKING TO YOU, DELL E521 OWNER!

Great, thank you. I just need to know It will fit. Once it arrives and i can look at it i can judge what kindof fan will fit.

Would still like to know the depth and fan card position, so i can finish my model. :p

Any suggestions for medium sized GPU fans? I don't have a lot of air flow in my case so i guess just a cooling array won't be enough, I need a fan aswell.

Thanks NM

wow i misunderstood that. i thought u wanted the clearance from the metal bracket to the very back of the card where the power connector is. My bad on that.

But according to nitro thats a really weird setup u got there. Have never seen btx before in a computer. heard of it but never saw it. Anyway, the stock cooler just plain sucks. It idles at 58*C and loads at around 75~78*C when playing COD4. But it will def. fit in the case with the stock cooler. the fan will be really close to the cpu so your temps will probably be pretty high. you are going to need to search around for compatible aftermarket gpu coolers and check there dimensions after you get the card to make sure it will fit.

Thanks NT, got my wired crossed.

Lol, it's not really a common request. Cool, thankyou.

Hmm, any articles/web pages/topics people can suggest for air flow? I know It'd not rocket science but i want to do it right.

I *Think* I can cut a hole or two in the mesh-lattace back of the PC and add a out put fan.

And have i read somthing about making ribbon cables round to cut down on air movement? :S

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that a Zalman VF700Cu would probably fit in there on an 8600GT.

Honestly though, I would pick up the 8600GT, install it, and see if there are any temp issues. Any card really should run with its stock cooler. As long as you don't mess with the cooler, you can always return it if there are issues.

Lol, i was thinking the VF900 Cu LED :)

Any comments on adding an output fan in the back? At the moment all i have is the input/processor fan at the front.

NM's link shows a good picture of the possibly easily moddable back.

I'm also abit worried about my bottom HDD getting to hot.
