how dangerous is cellphone radiation?

how dangerous is cellphone radiation? I have a 1998-99 model cellphone, and is there anyway to lessen the radiation emmited by cellphones? i.e. sticking "anti-RAD" stickers (flashing sticker whenever you dial or send radio waves) on cellphones, is that effective?

All devices which emit some form of radiation are dangerous to a certain extent. The latest reports show that cellphones do very little damage to tissue.

Although many phones use the 2.4 GHz band, just like microwaves, the power of the signal send by cellphones is much, much less strong that that of a microwave.

Just remember: too much of something is seldom good 😉

Major disruptive factor during driving and operating machinery. Responsible for numerous and serious auto and machinery accidents some of which resulted in death or serious permanent injury. Short wave length radation has a heating effect on animal tissue which long term effects are debated and largely unknown. Do you feel lucky??

It depends on who you ask.

If you ask my mom, she'll swear that they cause brain cancer. She calls me on my cell then tells me to don't talk on the phone much because i'll get a hole in my brain.. 😕

I frankly could careless. they are pretty darn convenient and even if I do get brain tumor, I can always sue samsung and craprint for frying my brain ^^

BTW those wave blocker thingies you see on TV don't exactly work.. (*gasp big surprise) along w/ the signal amplifier.. there's a discussion going on over @ the hot deals forum about it (from what I hear, FSC actually did a test on it, and basically said it DOESN'T WORK.. go fig.

'd say there is always a price to pay for convenience, better deal w/ it.. 🙁

Current evidence suggests that it's not really dangerous. And those lawsuits in USA where people claim they got brain-cancer (or something) because of their cell-phone use, should think about few things:

1. Nobody is forcing them to use a cell-phone. It's not addictive
2. Brain-cancer takes YEARS to develop. It's not possible to get it by using cell-phone for few years.

People have been using cell-phones in Finland for about 20 years now, and there is no increase in reported numbers of brain-cancer.

I think the research is still undecided. As been said here already, no one is forcing us to use cell phones. I you believe that radiation from them is harmful , you stop using them or at least reduce exposure by less frequent use and using external antennas and handsfree etc .

<< A friend of my Dad's is a partner in one of the firms mentioned in this article. The article and the links at the bottom freaked me out enough that I am conscious of how I hold the phone and try to limit my use.

I don't think cell-phone radiation is dangerous. Like I said, brain-cancer and the like takes years to develop, using a cell-phone for few years is not liong enough time fir cancer to develop.

It seems to me that these cases revolve around single assumption: Person get a tumor/brain-cancer. He also happened to use cell-phone. Therefore, cell-phone is the cause. It doesn't quote work that way.

and, if you are worried about the radiation, don't use a cell-phone- Problem solved. I think suing the operator /phone-manufacturers is wrong, since they are not intentionally lying to the consumers (most studies suggest that cell-phones are harmless), nor are they making their product physically addictive on purpose (tobacco-manufacturers are guilty of both those things).
