I just realised that my little brother starts football in high school (freshman year for him) and I just left that football program. It was fun, I didnt like it at the time for some reason, but now I look back and am glad I did play football. He just came into my room asking what happens on the first day and whatnot. It was cute....damn, college starts up again monday :(.

Football isn't for everyone.

I miss it though. I enjoyed the strategy and being able to cream the snot out of others. I didn't care for the ankle and knee sprains or two-a-days...but nothing beat playing the actual game.

Same for basketball and baseball.

edit: My 4-year old starts his first sport, soccer, next week. I'm going to desperately try to be a good Dad/Coach and not turn into one of the nutso "live vicariously through my child" parents.

My 7 year old started flag football last night. At tryouts, he was on the verge of tears when he realized there would be no helmets.

And Queasy, at 4, soccer is little more than chase the little ball around :). If your kid has the desire to put the ball in the goal he'll probably be a star, otherwise he might make "grass angels" out on the field like some kids I've seen.

LOL. Oh, I already know that soccer at this age might as well be called "magnet" ball. I was speaking in generalities for now and beyond to high school years.
