How could I go from high to low in such a short period of time?

Around midnight - I dig out my old VFD (:camera: :camera::camera:)
Around 12:15 - I dig out my wiring harness for VFD
Around 12:30 - Repair harness, successfully get VFD working. Amazed roommate, who promptly went to sleep. Bask in my own glory for several moments.
Around 12:35 - Discover the woot-off, stop playing with VFD.
Around 12:40 - Clown from down the hall starts throwing crap at my door. I lock door.
Around 1:30 - I think 'Hey, I should go tell my friend about the woot-off' I do so.
Immediately after - Remember that door was locked. Try door. Locked. Bask in my own stupidity for about an hour, while:
Next hour - Try various methods of gaining entry to own dorm sans keys: Index card, carefully folded cutout from Mt. Dew can, knocking, calling dorm phone and roommate cell phone trying to rouse him from his slumber, trying to find RA(asleep+door locked).
Around 2:30 - Give up, decide to give the bored security guy something to do.
2:34 - Security arrives, lets me in.
2:35 - I can't think of anything better to do while waiting for the next woot than to post this on ATOT.

Agreed. Try this one- those were from I had it going a while ago. VFDs are hard to photograph.

Vacuum Flourescent Display. Everyone's seen them displaying prices at checkout registers, etc. The program I use for mine will show Winamp data, a clock, a text ticker, RSS data, and lots of other things. It's neat.
