How control cpu fan speed?

anyone know how to control fan speed on the a8n-sli or motherboard like it? when i enable q-fan, i can use speedfan to adjust the speed but only from the lower speed down, then when q-fan diabled i cant control fan at all. i want to be able to control speed how ever i want.
