I'm not sure if any exist, and if they do, I'd love to see what they are... but how compelling would a chat program be that offerred to encrypt ALL communication between itself and other clients and itself and the server, including file transfers?

And what type of encryption would you most be willing to trust?

perhaps if it were used in a corporate environment (don't they already have secure aim though?). for your average teenage user though... i don't thikn it's really necesary. the only people that would actually lust after it are those slashdot people... bunch of wannabes :p

I have not used secure AIM... although you're right, most teens wouldn't care about encryption... but I know that some of the more nerdish type might. :)

I totally agree with gopunk, unless it's used in a corporate setting it's not that compelling to the average IM user.

Not much of what I say in chat needs to be encrypted besides 50% of it is swear words, it's not like I send my cc info over IM or anything like that.

Probably true. Are there any non-corporate users out there who would like something like this?
