How common are unlocked T-birds (mine are 1.2ghz)?

I just bought two 1.2ghz T-birds, one for me and one to build a system for a friend, and both are completely unlocked - multiplier and frequency. I can run both at 1.4ghz like a dream. Both are retail versions, AXIA I believe.

Does my Epox 8KTA3PRO have a special feature I didn't know about, or is this common? I was surprised - after my unsuccessful attempt at &quot;pencil-unlocking&quot; my Duron, I was very pleasantly surprised with this.

Is this common?
