I built three computers recently.

T-Bird 1.4
MSI K7 Master
Crucial 512MB PC-2100
ASUS V8200 Deluxe
IBM 40GB ATA/100 7200 RPM
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Plextor 16X CD-RW
Pioneer 16X Slot-In DVD-ROM
Linksys 10/100 NIC
Mitsumi 1.4MB
NEC FE950+BK CRT
Antec 1040B w/ 400W
Enlight 80mm High Output Fan
Taisol CGK760092 HSF / Artic Silver II

Of all those various components i got two defective parts. One motherboard had a sporadically malfunctioning agp port, and one of the video cards never worked at all. Is it common to get two defective parts when building just three computers?

That seems high. We try to get parts on a palet from an air ride truck. Then they tend to be okay. MAYBE 1 bad part per 10 builds. But that is DOA parts. Some parts will fail within the first week/month/year. Most computers will have something fail in 2 years.
