Seriously, you see kid midgets, and middle aged midgets, but I've only seen 1 old midget in my whole life. 2 Days ago, he was coming out of a store. Gray hair and a 2' crutch under each arm. A very sad sight.

So anyways do midgets have some kind of medical condition that lets them not has long lives as the average height person?

Basically, because they're genetically defective. They just don't live very long.

Same thing with albino things.

the medical condition would be the genetic defect which makes them a midget... so that might possibly affect their logevity and health overall

Ever seen a garden gnome?

In all seriousness, I'd imagine that being a midget also effects their longevity infortunately.

I thought it had something to do with the fact that they've got normal or close to normal-sized organs in a much smaller body and that causes complications at a much younger age. I swear I remember hearing or reading that at some point.

Heh.. funny you should ask...

Actually, there *are* old midgets - just not a lot of them. We are celebrating our annual "Judy Garland Festival" in Grand Rapids, MN, and there's a couple of 80+ year-old midgets in town for a few days. This article talks about the event, tho it doesn't list the actual ages (but I know the midgets area ancient!)

Giants die younger than midgets, I believe. They don't stop growing and their organs can't keep up with their overall mass--they usually succumb to heart attack I think. I'm not sure what specifically weeds out midgets younger.

I heard somewhere that while a midget's body is small, their internal organs are the same size as those of their larger human counterparts. This causes a problem.
