How come you don't need ear protection when firing a minigun?

I think it might be because Rifles are usually shot from the Shoulder, where the blast is right next to your ear, while the Minigun is shot from frther away.

Its either than or you're watching videos of people who are going to become dead very soon.

They either have foam ear plugs or electronic ear plugs. It doesn't matter if the round goes off 5 inches from your ear of 5 feet. It's going to be loud.

It surely does matter. That's how sound works.

Do minigun rounds not go at supersonic speed or something?

A round's speed doesn't have any bearing on how loud it sounds. Most .45s are loud and some .22LR aren't.

in the case he mentioned, its not going to matter that much. if it was half a mile away, then yes, it would make a huge difference.

The speed of the round does make a difference as a portion of the crack of the gun is due to the bullet's sonic boom.
