how come when i delete a large file...

ok so ive managed to fill up two 160 gig drives due to BT....so i'm trying to go through and delete the vid clips i've watched already. But i've deleted like 6 gigs of movies already and my disk free space still shows as "50 megs free"....

Does Norton Recycle Bin have anything to do with this? Where is my disk space going?

I would definately look at your Norton Protected Recycle Bin. I don't use Norton myself, but iirc you can disable that protection and it will ask you if you want to keep or delete the files it's stashed away. Or perhaps there's a way to do it without temporarily disabling it, I'm not sure.

I'll have to look into that. I'm having a similar issue. Does that get installed automagically with Norton AntiVirus?

yes. right click on your recycle bin and choose "empty norton recycle bin protected files" or something like that. it's the choice right above "empty receycle bin".

Basically norton antivirus places your files which you have deleted into its protected recycle bin (don't ask me why...since if you've gone through the trouble emptying your first recycle bin, you'd think they'd get the picture). Just empty the norton protected recycle bin and you should see your free space come back 😛

Norton protected recycle bin SUXORS! Right click on it, clear protected files and clear recycle bin. Right click on it and go to the norton protection screen and UNCHECK enable protection for each drive. Then, go to admin tools>services, stop the norton unerase protection service and change it to disabled.

I hate that feature! Kill it DEAD. 😛

After that, change the size of your Recycle Bin.
