How come we don't get the AT Memorial logo in December?

Yup.

Pearl Harbor.

Most of the people who read this forum weren't around when Pearl Harbor happened, most of us weren't around for Vietnam, and barely around for Desert Storm.

We all, however, remember 9/11, and will for the rest of our lives.

why complain about it? it's like when somebody donates a dollar to charity and someone else complains that they didn't donate enough.

Except for the red, white, & blue, how is memorializing a tragic event a display of patriotism, Mr. Buzzword?

People who never cared about the role the USA plays in the world today, those who take for granted the freedoms that we enjoy in the US... etc etc.

I said Bandwagon Patriots - the ones who display their country's flag due to their reaction to Sept 11th. I remember seeing a short infomercial on TV, it was something of a flag holder for your car so you can display flags, and they threw in free plastic american flags "so you can show your patriotism" ... don't get me wrong, the more pride the better - can't get enough of it. I just think that it's very misplaced in some cases. I love the new logo, I have no qualms with it, we must remember last year! However, Pearl Harbor was a very tragic event too (not *as* bad as 9/11, but almost), and you don't see the media making a big deal out of Dec 7th.

Anyways, my point is, many people show pride just because the next person is, it's becoming trendy. I'd feel better about it if the commercialism was left out, along with the "me-too" mentality

Thanks for elaborating. I agree 100%. Your original post just confused me because I couldn't see the correlation between the logo and commercialized patriotism.
BTW, Pearl Harbor *did* happen 60 years ago...September 11th is still fresh in our collective memory. As the years pass, it will most likely be remembered as Pearl Harbor is today. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.

Not everyone is like that.
The flag is flying in front of my house in the same place it has been for 27+ years.
The flag itself has been replaced numerous times when it has become too ragged to be flown any more.

I also served in a very unpopular war, because I considered it my duty.
